It’s wicked to do it at 20″ – When Charley Hull shattered records to claim the CME Group Tour Championship in style
Charley Hull won her maiden LPGA Tour title at the CME Group Tour Championship in 2016. She was just 20 when she clinched the title and joined the winning circle on the LPGA Tour. She was impressive with her game in the four-day event and finally settled for an overall score of 19-under to win the tournament by two strokes. It was the best score of the event at the time.
However, later Ko Jin Young won the event in 2021 with a better record than Hull, and the best aggregate record of the tournament was recorded in 2023 by Amy Yang, who scored 27-under after four rounds.
Following the tournament, during the press conference in 2016, Hull reflected on her excitement about clinching the trophy at 20. She said (via ASAP Sports):
“Feels pretty good. Yeah, feels great to be a winner on the LPGA Tour. It’s wicked to do at 20. It’s fun. So feels good to be joining the winners this year. Ariya has had a great year; Lydia; Brooke. It feels good to be now one of the young ones that have won. It feels good.”
Charley Hull played the final two rounds of 66 at the CME Group Tour Championship in 2016. She had a good start but struggled in the second round, where she played a round of 70. However, she bounced back and finally clinched the trophy.

Djokovic learns fate in new home as Sabalenka addresses behaviour
Express Sport brings you the latest tennis news from the Paris Masters.
We’re reaching the business end of the Paris Masters, as eight players become four in the French capital. Jannik Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy after Carlos Alcaraz was dumped out by Cameron Norrie in the Spaniard’s opening match. Norrie was then beaten by Valentin Vacherot, whose amazing 10-match winning streak at Masters 1000 level came to an end when he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Canadian star Auger-Aliassime will face Alexander Bublik in the semis. Bublik defeated Alex de Minaur, who is among those to have already qualified for the year-end ATP Finals. Sinner is through to his first Paris Masters semi-final after beating Ben Shelton. He’ll face defending champion Alexander Zverev, who survived a tough match against Daniil Medvedev.
Novak Djokovic is not involved in the Paris Masters, having decided to skip the event for the second year in a row, but he has learned his fate in the draw of next week’s ATP 250 in Athens. And over in Riyadh, the WTA Finals are about to get underway.
