The 2025 Genesis Invitational is taking place this week but sadly tournament host Tiger Woods will no longer be making his return to action.
The legendary golfer announced the sudden death of his mother, Kultida last week which had put his participation at the Genesis into doubt.
But he was spotted playing with US President Donald Trump last weekend before the Super Bowl and event organisers confirmed he was set to be part of the field.
However, the 15-time major champion, who hasn’t played professionally since The Open last July, has now withdrawn after saying he isn’t ready to play so soon after his mother’s passing.
The Genesis, which is traditionally hosted by Woods, paid a touching tribute to Kultida during Thursday’s opening round.
The PGA Tour hope Woods will make an appearance at the event over the weekend as an all-star field battle for glory at Torrey Pines.
Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler are among the big names teeing it up with storming weather in San Diego making conditions tough in the $20million Signature Event.
Genesis Invitational 2025: Date and how to follow
This PGA Tour event will take place from Thursday, February 13 to Sunday, February 16.
Play is due to get started at 5:30pm UK time each day.
It is being held on the South Course at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego.
The event was moved from it’s traditional home at Riviera Country Club due to the recent wildfires in California.
talkSPORT 2 will have live commentary of the action at Torrey Pines and you can listen here.
The event will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports Golf, with coverage starting at 5:30pm on Thursday and Friday and 3pm over the weekend.
Genesis Invitational 2025: Field and tee times
The Genesis is an elevated event on the PGA Tour again this season and so the 72-player field includes 46 of the top 50 golfers in the world rankings.
There will be a cut on Friday night with the top 50 making it through to the weekend.
Woods will no longer feature having withdrawn on Monday with Jake Knapp taking his place.
McIlroy is fresh off his brilliant win at Pebble Beach and will feature alongside defending champion Hideki Matsuyama while two-time Masters champion Scheffler will also be in action.
