Rory McIlroy not impressed as he lays into PGA Tour star over ‘unacceptable’ actions
Former world No. 1 Rory McIlroy has criticised a fellow PGA Tour star for his on-course actions after he was recently captured by cameras kicking all etiquette out the window
Golf star Kizzire was forced to issue a public apology after he was caught on camera kicking his club through the air in response to a missed shot. The 39-year-old shanked a hole in Palm Harbor and responded by booting his putter into the air.
The Alabama-born star – a three-time winner on the PGA Tour – faced heavy criticism for his actions. In response, Kizzire promised to be a “better version” of himself when he posted a social media apology video, admitting his behavior was ‘unacceptable’.
McIlroy is often praised as the epitome of professionalism and holds senior standing among his peers on the PGA Tour. And the Northern Irishman emphasized how Tour players should be role models for global spectators after the incident.
“It can be relatable, but at the same time, you want to try to set a proper example,” he told the media (via the Daily Express). “Like you don’t want — you don’t want 10-year-old kids punting their putters across the green every time they miss a putt.”
The four-time major champion has had plenty of opportunity to show his more petulant side over the course of his career. Not least of which after a late collapse saw him miss out on last year’s US Open as Bryson DeChambeau stole in to snatch the victory.

Djokovic learns fate in new home as Sabalenka addresses behaviour
Express Sport brings you the latest tennis news from the Paris Masters.
We’re reaching the business end of the Paris Masters, as eight players become four in the French capital. Jannik Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy after Carlos Alcaraz was dumped out by Cameron Norrie in the Spaniard’s opening match. Norrie was then beaten by Valentin Vacherot, whose amazing 10-match winning streak at Masters 1000 level came to an end when he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Canadian star Auger-Aliassime will face Alexander Bublik in the semis. Bublik defeated Alex de Minaur, who is among those to have already qualified for the year-end ATP Finals. Sinner is through to his first Paris Masters semi-final after beating Ben Shelton. He’ll face defending champion Alexander Zverev, who survived a tough match against Daniil Medvedev.
Novak Djokovic is not involved in the Paris Masters, having decided to skip the event for the second year in a row, but he has learned his fate in the draw of next week’s ATP 250 in Athens. And over in Riyadh, the WTA Finals are about to get underway.
