Jon Rahm cheating incident forced LIV Golf star to take action with trick for PGA Champs

Jon Rahm is yet to win the PGA Championship but will be hoping to change that at Quail Hollow this week – and the Spaniard will likely be taking a unique approach on the greens
Jon Rahm is expected to be personalizing his golf balls with his initials at the PGA Championship.
The dual major winner, still pursuing his first US PGA triumph, began the habit in his youth after spotting cheating among his peers. During one particular competition, Rahm spotted a ball on the green that he believed was his; however, lacking identifiable markings, others challenged his certainty.
Consequently, the Spanish golfer started marking his balls with “JR” in red ink to eliminate any future confusion. Explaining his actions on the Andrew Santino show, Rahm said: “So, you know, when you don’t have people watching or officials refereeing everywhere, right?
Yet Rahm is not alone in recognizing widespread dishonesty at amateur level – a 2023 survey among amateur players claimed that 15 percent had seen cheating on the course, including nudging balls closer to the hole or covertly playing a new ball when the original was lost, reports the Express. Fortuitously, the intense scrutiny and abundance of marshalls in pro circles make cheating far rarer.
However, when he replaced it, it seemed to be slightly nearer to the hole. Despite viewers emailing the European Tour to highlight what they’d observed, chief referee Andy McFee chose not to penalize Rahm – ruling that he hadn’t deliberately misplaced his ball on the green.

Djokovic learns fate in new home as Sabalenka addresses behaviour

Express Sport brings you the latest tennis news from the Paris Masters.
We’re reaching the business end of the Paris Masters, as eight players become four in the French capital. Jannik Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy after Carlos Alcaraz was dumped out by Cameron Norrie in the Spaniard’s opening match. Norrie was then beaten by Valentin Vacherot, whose amazing 10-match winning streak at Masters 1000 level came to an end when he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Canadian star Auger-Aliassime will face Alexander Bublik in the semis. Bublik defeated Alex de Minaur, who is among those to have already qualified for the year-end ATP Finals. Sinner is through to his first Paris Masters semi-final after beating Ben Shelton. He’ll face defending champion Alexander Zverev, who survived a tough match against Daniil Medvedev.
Novak Djokovic is not involved in the Paris Masters, having decided to skip the event for the second year in a row, but he has learned his fate in the draw of next week’s ATP 250 in Athens. And over in Riyadh, the WTA Finals are about to get underway.
