Jordan Spieth makes major announcement just before The Open Championship
Jordan Spieth has announced the birth of his third child, a son named Sully, just days before he is set to return to action at The Open Championship in Northern Ireland
Golf star Jordan Spieth has announced the arrival of his third child, just in time before he tees off at The Open Championship. In a heartwarming Instagram post on Sunday, Spieth revealed that his wife Annie had given birth to their son, Sully Spieth.
The PGA Tour star, who has been battling against injury, has been off the green since pulling out of the Travelers Championship. Spieth’s initial withdrawal was due to an injury, after having wrist surgery in 2024, but he chose to extend his break until the birth of his third child.
He has now confirmed his return for the star-studded Open championship, with no further limitations expected the rest of the year. Sharing a snapshot of his newborn with the family gathered around, Spieth wrote: “We added a new member to the foursome – Sully Spieth! Everyone is doing great.”
Jordan and Annie Spieth are now parents to three children, Sammy, Sophie, and Sully, welcoming each roughly two years apart. Spieth is now cherishing a few days with his family before heading to Northern Ireland for The Open, reports the Mirror US.
Spieth’s last competitive appearance ended abruptly when he withdrew from the Travelers’ first round due to a neck injury. This led him to miss subsequent tournaments including the Rocket Classic and the John Deere Classic.
Spieth opted to skip the Genesis Scottish Open too, with his wife due to give birth. While this restricted Spieth from building course momentum, he will be in contention at The Open Championship.

Djokovic learns fate in new home as Sabalenka addresses behaviour
Express Sport brings you the latest tennis news from the Paris Masters.
We’re reaching the business end of the Paris Masters, as eight players become four in the French capital. Jannik Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy after Carlos Alcaraz was dumped out by Cameron Norrie in the Spaniard’s opening match. Norrie was then beaten by Valentin Vacherot, whose amazing 10-match winning streak at Masters 1000 level came to an end when he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Canadian star Auger-Aliassime will face Alexander Bublik in the semis. Bublik defeated Alex de Minaur, who is among those to have already qualified for the year-end ATP Finals. Sinner is through to his first Paris Masters semi-final after beating Ben Shelton. He’ll face defending champion Alexander Zverev, who survived a tough match against Daniil Medvedev.
Novak Djokovic is not involved in the Paris Masters, having decided to skip the event for the second year in a row, but he has learned his fate in the draw of next week’s ATP 250 in Athens. And over in Riyadh, the WTA Finals are about to get underway.
