Carlos Alcaraz has ominous message for Jannik Sinner after US Open win
Carlos Alcaraz has won the US Open for the second time in his career, and he’s not done yet – the Spanish superstar believes he’s still improving as a tennis player
Tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz has issued a warning to Jannik Sinner and the rest of the tour that he’s yet to reach his peak. After clinching his sixth Major trophy at the US Open last weekend and reclaiming the world No. 1 spot, Alcaraz is confident that his best is still to come.
The 22-year-old superstar only dropped one set and was broken a mere three times across seven matches in Flushing Meadows, declaring it the pinnacle tournament of his burgeoning career. But Alcaraz isn’t resting on his laurels – he’s already planning some permanent reminders of his latest triumph.
Alcaraz has a tradition of commemorating his Grand Slam victories with unique tattoos. He sports an Eiffel Tower for his Roland Garros titles and strawberries as a tribute to his Wimbledon efforts.
This tattoo tradition began three years ago when he secured his first Major title at the US Open as a promising teenager. Initially, Alcaraz simply had the date of his first US Open victory inked on his arm, but now he’s looking to add more symbolic tattoos.
In several post-match interviews on Sunday night, the world No. 1 unveiled plans to have the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge etched into his skin. The anticipated tattoos will be crafted by Joaquin Ganga, the artist responsible for Alcaraz’s previous pieces.
One individual who won’t be thrilled to hear Alcaraz’s recent remarks is Sinner, who endured a 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4 loss in the final last weekend.
The Italian held the No. 1 ranking for 65 weeks after claiming the top position last June, but was eventually surpassed by Alcaraz following the US Open. Following his four-set defeat, Sinner acknowledged he had become too “predictable” and required evolution as a competitor to rival his Spanish opponent.

Djokovic learns fate in new home as Sabalenka addresses behaviour
Express Sport brings you the latest tennis news from the Paris Masters.
We’re reaching the business end of the Paris Masters, as eight players become four in the French capital. Jannik Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy after Carlos Alcaraz was dumped out by Cameron Norrie in the Spaniard’s opening match. Norrie was then beaten by Valentin Vacherot, whose amazing 10-match winning streak at Masters 1000 level came to an end when he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Canadian star Auger-Aliassime will face Alexander Bublik in the semis. Bublik defeated Alex de Minaur, who is among those to have already qualified for the year-end ATP Finals. Sinner is through to his first Paris Masters semi-final after beating Ben Shelton. He’ll face defending champion Alexander Zverev, who survived a tough match against Daniil Medvedev.
Novak Djokovic is not involved in the Paris Masters, having decided to skip the event for the second year in a row, but he has learned his fate in the draw of next week’s ATP 250 in Athens. And over in Riyadh, the WTA Finals are about to get underway.
