Brooks Koepka denied President Trump request at LIV Golf event that saw X-rated outburst
Trump National Doral is set to host the final leg of LIV Golf Miami action on Sunday. The course is expected to deliver a spectacular show as the competition draws to a close, having already laid on some memorable moments in recent years.
Dean Burmester triumphed at the Miami contest last year, defeating 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia in a playoff to claim his first LIV title. And several stars who have yet to win on the Saudi-funded series are eager to secure their first victory in Florida.
Brooks Koepka has previously made headlines for declining an invitation from President Donald Trump in Miami, while one star’s foul language was the source of controversy. As another competition reaches its climax, we reflect on some of the tournament’s standout moments.
Hatton’s foul-mouthed tirade
When it comes to the golf world and foul language, Tyrrell Hatton isn’t shy about letting a swear word fly. The English golfer has been caught more than once directing his strong language towards his clubs, himself, or even at the very ground under his feet.
One such incident took place during LIV Golf Miami last year, leaving broadcasters scrambling for cover when Hatton’s shot on the 14th hole veered off course. Hatton’s sharp tongue was captured by broadcast microphones as he seethed: “That can reach those trees, can’t it? F—ing what a w— bounce that was. If it f—ing bounces left it’s fine.”
But he wasn’t finished just there – while retrieving his tee, an enraged Hatton also let out: “F— you. F—ing c—.”
It’s not often that one declines a sitting President, but former world No.1 Koepka did just that at LIV Golf Miami in October 2022. The inaugural season of LIV concluded at Trump National Doral, with the resort’s owner in attendance for the finale.
However, Koepka wasn’t interested in engaging – not even with the then President of the United States. And all Trump wanted was a couple of pointers.
“Brooks was fantastic. . .I was trying to learn from him,” he said at the time. “He didn’t give me any tips. He’s not going to give me any tips. He didn’t want me to beat him. But yeah, listen we had a great time. I always enjoy playing with him.”

Djokovic learns fate in new home as Sabalenka addresses behaviour
Express Sport brings you the latest tennis news from the Paris Masters.
We’re reaching the business end of the Paris Masters, as eight players become four in the French capital. Jannik Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy after Carlos Alcaraz was dumped out by Cameron Norrie in the Spaniard’s opening match. Norrie was then beaten by Valentin Vacherot, whose amazing 10-match winning streak at Masters 1000 level came to an end when he lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Canadian star Auger-Aliassime will face Alexander Bublik in the semis. Bublik defeated Alex de Minaur, who is among those to have already qualified for the year-end ATP Finals. Sinner is through to his first Paris Masters semi-final after beating Ben Shelton. He’ll face defending champion Alexander Zverev, who survived a tough match against Daniil Medvedev.
Novak Djokovic is not involved in the Paris Masters, having decided to skip the event for the second year in a row, but he has learned his fate in the draw of next week’s ATP 250 in Athens. And over in Riyadh, the WTA Finals are about to get underway.
