Rickie Fowler Joins Distressed Fans in Sending Strength to Tiger Woods as Golf Legend Undergoes Critical Surgery

Published

Tiger Woods and his left leg have a long-standing history. Injury history, that is. Even before he became professional, the American golfer had encountered injury issues that have, at times, left him on one leg. The injury train started as early as 1994, when he underwent a left knee surgery to remove scar tissue and two benign tumors. While that was not a serious issue, eight years later, at the pinnacle of golf, Woods’s left leg played villain again.

This time, similar to his trophies during that era, a ‘major’ surgery took place, during which fluid and a benign cyst were removed from his left ACL. Five years later, Woods ruptured the left knee ligament and decided to have the surgery a year later in April 2008. His left ankle suffered a minor strain in April 2011, and merely a month later, His left MCL and left Achilles tendon caused concern. “The knee acted up, and then the Achilles followed after that,” Woods told reporters after the injury.

In 2019, he went through arthroscopic surgery for minor ligament issues. Phew! And that is just his left leg. But it did not get over then. Now, as he was preparing to train and get in shape for the upcoming Masters Tournament, Woods was dealt another bad hand on the injury front.

He took to Instagram to share his plight, detailing that the left Achilles, which had previously flared in 2011, has caused concern yet again. “As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured. I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab. Thank you for all the support,” he wrote. The 15-time Major winner had to undergo surgery yet again, and his doctor, Stucken, stated, “The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery.”

The recovery is great news, but the persisting injury issues are concerning. However, the golfing world has shown its support to the Big Cat, including Rickie Fowler, who liked Woods’s post about his plight. Fowler is Woods’s fanboy, like most of the golf community. When the conversation about how Woods should retire sparked before The Open last year, Fowler boldly told the world, “He still has plenty of good golf in him. The game is better when we have him around.”

“I love being able to have Tiger [here],” Fowler also said at the time. “He has been trying to continue to make sure he is ready to go, playing the majors and then hopefully a few other events on top of that… I would love to see him continue to stay healthy so he can play a select group of events throughout the year.”

Not just Fowler, but fans were quick to shower Woods with their prayers and wishes.

Fans show concern and appreciation to Tiger Woods

“Praying for a fast and smooth recovery! Your comeback is going to make your next win even more legendary and inspiring.” Another Instagram user also called for Woods’s fighting mentality to help him deal with the current setback he has faced. “Tiger, you are as strong as hell for grinding through these things. Speedy recovery; hope to see you play again one day.”

If Tiger Woods tees up at the Masters, it will be his 27th appearance. The 82-time PGA Tour winner has won the iconic event at the Augusta National five times, and it is the major he won the most in his career. It was also the first major he won and the last major he won as well. Oh wait! Last major he has won so far. At least one fan thinks that he is a shoo-in for one more, expressing hope and stating, “Don’t care. Still betting on you to win The Masters.”

Another fan poked fun at the sheer number of surgeries and medical procedures Tiger had to undergo even before his professional career started. The injury list earlier was just his left leg. He has also encountered several issues with his back, mostly bulging discs, which culminated in another surgery in late 2024. This is after he went through five microdiscectomy surgeries between April 2015 and January 2021. According to one fan, the only thing comparable to his surgery history is his PGA Tour record. “PGA Tour wins 82 surgeries 83,” added the fan, albeit with some hyperbole, but mostly with a bit of concern about the fact that Woods has a long injury history.

The love is still there for the golf superstar, as many fans were expecting to see him tee off at the Augusta National. Do you think the Big Cat will recover in time for the upcoming Masters, a major that is close to his heart? Here’s to your speedy recovery, Tiger Woods!

With the Steelers hosting the first round, her long-standing connection to Pittsburgh has resurfaced. But it’s not just about hometown ties. Her broader fandom, which stretches beyond one franchise, continues to draw mixed reactions at a time when fan loyalty is often treated as non-negotiable.

Paige Spiranac roots for 2 NFL teams: Who are they?

Paige Spiranac has never hidden where her loyalties lie, even if they don’t fit the usual mold. She has consistently pointed to her roots while leaving space for other allegiances.

“Both my parents are from Pittsburgh so I’ve been a Steelers ..fan since the day I was born. I also love the Bills. It’s a complicated relationship…Who’s your team?” she previously asked her followers. It’s a candid admission, one that reflects personal history more than calculated fandom.

Predicting what will happen to Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson if LIV Golf collapses

It looks like LIV Golf is over.

The Saudi Public Investment Fund has reportedly decided that this league simply isn’t worth the hole it’s burning in their pocket, and they’re pulling funds at the end of 2026.

That gives them less than a year to seek new investment. While CEO Scott O’Neil seems confident, it’s going to be extremely difficult to secure funding for a league that is operating at such eye-watering losses.

So this probably pulls the curtain closed on one of the most turbulent, frustrating, confusing, and ridiculous eras in golfing history. Hopefully, we can all return to some reality after the year is over.

But there is still so much uncertainty surrounding golf’s future thanks to this. Brooks Koepka and Patrick Reed saw the signs early and jumped ship, but they did that with some leverage. So what on earth is going to happen to the rest of these players who didn’t take the olive branch when it was offered to them?

Feelings will be hurt, and careers will be ended. Let’s take a look.

Jon Rahm rejoins the PGA Tour

Koepka returned to the PGA Tour under the returning member program, which saw him pay $5 million to charity, accept that he’ll receive no FedEx Cup bonus money, and agree he cannot be a sponsor exemption for the 2026 signature events.

That same deal was offered to Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau. They didn’t accept it, but a similar offer will likely be handed out to them again.

If LIV Golf folds, Rahm will not hold the same leverage as Koepka did, but he is a bigger star at this stage of his career. Make no mistake, the PGA Tour will want him back immediately.

But Rahm does risk leaving himself without any options at all. Reed didn’t come straight back to the PGA Tour, so he’s spending a year on the DP World Tour first. You’d imagine Rahm would consider doing the same, but it might not be so easy for him.

Rahm is in a feud with the DP World Tour, as the only one of eight players to reject a deal which would have seen him retain his full-time membership. If Rahm agreed to play in six DP World Tour events this year, then he could have played on both LIV Golf and the tour. He did not agree.

For now, his membership is at risk. So, will it be possible for him to spend a season on the DP World Tour like Reed? Maybe not. That makes it all the more likely that Rahm will be back on the PGA Tour the moment LIV folds.

Bryson DeChambeau does YouTube full-time

With DeChambeau, I don’t think it’s as much of a done deal that he returns to the PGA Tour. Not immediately anyway.

He’s been negotiating his contract with LIV, which expires at the end of this season. During these negotiations, he’s made it very clear that he is completely willing to step away from full-time competition and be a full-time YouTuber.

DeChambeau’s channel has over two million subscribers, so he could feasibly do that with all of the money he’s making there.

He was annoyed to see LIV move to a four-day format, so he could commit himself fully to being the content king. It would be a wild thing to do, but it’s also exactly the kind of move you could see the two-time major winner making.

He could qualify for The Open Championship and the US Open, and earn enough points there to play The Masters and the PGA Championship. It’s possible.

He does seem to live for competition, so maybe YouTube won’t quite scratch the itch, but it is on the table for DeChambeau. At least for a year until his suspension expires. Out of Rahm and DeChambeau, the American is absolutely the least likely to take a deal.
